Vuistregel: een apostrof betekent meestal dat twee woorden zijn samengetrokken (it's = it is, they're = they are, who's = who is).

it's = it is; its = van het (bezit, geen apostrof).

there / their / they're
- there = daar / er
- their = hun
- they're = they are
your / you're · whose / who's
- your = van jou; you're = you are
- whose = van wie; who's = who is
where / were / we're · to / too / two
- where = waar; were = waren; we're = we are
- to = naar; too = ook/te; two = 2
